Starting next year: The National Day of American Wine

Another Thanksgiving has come and gone.

It truly is my favorite of all the holidays … the one day per year that we as a country and a culture come together to eat and drink and give thanks (for the magic of fermentation amongst other things).  I love it, and I absolutely hate what has become of the day after Thanksgiving.  I’m not going to go on a tirade against consumerism (you can find enough of that on the web pretty easily).

What I’m going to do is propose a national day of American wine the day after Thanksgiving. We are all stuffed to the gills on Turkey anyway, we have leftovers, so why not pop some corks?  You can pop anything, as long as it’s American … Zinfandel would be my choice of course.  Gather with wine friends, everybody brings some leftovers, and we continue the celebration the right way instead of being one of these people.  If you like this idea, let me know.  I’ll get the website ready …
