Twin Cities Wine Education presents a night focusing on the legendary wines of Montalcino, Italy
Montalcino: Brunello, Rosso, History, and More
In this new and comprehensive class we’ll dive deep into the city of Montalcino in the Tuscan hills and learn about their very specific clone of Sangiovese, the Brunello clone.
The Brunello di Montalcino wines of Tuscany are some of the most collectable and sought after wines of Italy (along with Barolo and Barbaresco, of course). We’ll taste a range of Brunellos as well as the category of Rosso di Montalcino while learning about the differences in laws and styles of production.
“I didn’t get my first taste of Brunello until I had been working in wine for a year. Not for lack of interest. In fact, my mouth had watered for the stuff after reading Hugh Johnson’s World Atlas of Wine. I just couldn’t afford a bottle. Perhaps this ended up being an advantage: looking back, I didn’t have the right expectations for what to look for and how long Brunello should be aged. Enjoy the journey!” – Madeline Pukette, Wine Folly
We will also extensively cover recent vintages, buying advice, favorite producers, and the “Montalcino Scandal” of recent times (when some producers were caught adding Merlot to their blend).
I hope you can join us for an unforgettable night of wines from Montalcino!
