RIDGE Vineyards: Rosé and Rarities
January 19, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm$70.00
Twin Cities Wine Education presents a special night of wines directly from our favorite producer, Ridge Vineyards.
RIDGE VINEYARDS: Rosé and Rarities
We’re not shy about our love of Ridge Vineyards. In our opinion, they are number one in America, the best producer around, without any question. In terms of wineries of the world, they are easily in the top 10, joined by the best of Burgundy and Bordeaux.
One of the best things about Ridge is their Advanced Tasting Program, otherwise known as ATP. It’s their way to make more micro-lots of wine from specific grapes, vineyards, and vineyard blocks that have distinctive personalities. Most of these wines are produced in insanely minuscule amounts and are sold directly to consumers via their ATP program. In other words, these wines are not available to the general public with ease (best if you live in Sonoma County or Santa Cruz and can visit Ridge in person).
Join us for a special afternoon of tasting wines from Ridge you may never have access to again, including the rare Ridge dry rosé of Carignane. Other wines being poured and discussed:
2017 Old Vine Carignane Rosé
2016 Buchignani Ranch Carignane
2015 Carmichael Zinfandel
2006 Mazzoni Home Ranch Zinfandel / Carignane / Petite Sirah
2006 Nervo Vineyard Zinfandel / Petite Sirah
2006 “Caboose” Nervo Vineyard Zinfandel / Petite Sirah
Of course, we will cover the history of Ridge Vineyards and their impact on the world of wine, including an overview of their ‘pre-industrial’ winemaking philosophy, the role of Paul Draper on shaping wine in America, and the legacy of the old vineyards they have preserved.
