I founded my little company in 1998, while I was a wine consultant at Surdyk’s Liquors. Twenty years later I’m so lucky to still be doing what I’m doing, and that is because of YOU. I love teaching people about wine, and the 20th anniversary of Twin Cities Wine Education gives us a unique moment to look back at a very distinctive vintage.
I’m compliing a world wide 1998 vintage review that I’ll present to you at the start. 1998 was a vintage of change, with shifting economies, shifting ideas of what wine should be, and amazing influence from some key reviewers. Most importantly, in certain regions, it was the last of the ‘classic’ vintages coming right off the heels of the overblown 1997’s.
Seating is limited to twelve people. We will be doing more of these over the course of the anniversary celebration year, and I hope you can join us for the first class.
Wines we will be experiencing:
1998 Joseph Swan Lone Redwood Vineyard Zinfandel, Russian River Valley
1998 Gianni Paoletti Merlot, Napa Valley
1998 Frank Family Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, Napa Valley
1998 Flowers Pinot Noir, Van der Kamp Vineyard, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma
1998 Paul Autard Chateauneuf du Pape
1998 Pio Cesare Barolo
