Vino and Vinyl Valentine’s Edition: AL GREEN GREATEST HITS + Bubbly
February 14 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm$55.00
Twin Cities Wine Education presents a new concept for wine and music lovers …
VINO and VINYL
Class three: AL GREEN GREATEST HITS + SPARKLING WINES
A wine class by candlelight
Join us for the third edition of a new concept in wine education: Vino and Vinyl with Twin Cities Wine Education.
Each Vino and Vinyl night will be a memorable pairing of a particular wine variety along with a legendary album played on 180g vinyl on top quality equipment including a vintage Marantz turntable and a Jamo 626 speaker system.
For this special Valentine’s Day edition, we will start the night with a history of sparkling wine and comparisons of all the major sparkling wine production regions. Accompanying the education will be a range of outstanding wines, along with handouts, maps, and deep information.
Then we’ll segway into discussing the legendary Al Green and his 1995 Greatest Hits album. As discussed on a thoughtco.com piece (which ranked this album number one of all time romantic vinyl):
“Al Green IS Love, as many of us know. Yet although romantic, sensual songs were his main claim to fame, they alone weren’t the full extent of his vision. This excellent greatest-hits package — the definitive 15-track 1995 version — is the best way to get most of your favorites in one place. Romantic on top and gritty on the bottom, and by turns sexy, holy, frustrated, blissful, and pleading, these songs define Seventies soul, and, some say, love in general. The ultimate mood-setter for any R&B fan.”
We will start the night with his song “Tired Of Being Alone” and finish with “Let’s Get Married.” Perfect bookends.
Side one will be accompanied by Prosecco and Cava, while side two will be all about Champagne.
Class starts a bit later than normal, 7:30 pm, to ensure that ahead of time you can get ready for a night out, and if you wish to have a bite ahead of class (The Naughty Greek is right around the corner, and Cafe Biaggio is just down the block).
We hope you can make it for this new and fascinating class. LOVE IS IN THE AIR!
