Twin Cities Wine Education is proud to present an evening with a legend in the wine business
Get ready for a great night. None other than John Fetzer, one of the most experienced organic and biodynamic farmers of Mendocino County and the oldest of the ten famous Fetzer siblings. John was the President of Fetzer Vineyards for 21 years before the family decided to sell their namesake in 1993, planning on settling down on the family ranch.
But people like John don’t stay idle for long.
The moment his non-compete clause was up, he came back with a bang by founding Saracina Vineyards along with another brand, Atrea, with his wife Patty Rock. I’ve enjoyed these wines since the beginning, and visiting the home ranch in Hopland is always a favorite stop for me.
I’ve learned more about vine farming and biodynamics from John than anybody else. He’s a treasure trove of information on the subject, and obviously a historical figure in the world of California wine.
On May 9th, while we taste through a wide range of his wines, you can look forward to a three act play of sorts. We’ll learn about the history of his family and Mendocino County, plus the changes John has seen in the area over his lifetime. Next we’ll learn about visiting the area and how to get the most out of the experience. And finally we’ll dive deep into sustainable, organic, and biodynamic farming practices and the impact they have on the final wines. It’s a night not to miss.
