January 12, 2013 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
North Loop Wine and Spirits, 218 North Washington Avenue
Minneapolis, MN 55401 United States

Spanish wine history is full of starts and stops over the course of 2000 years (far more so than France or Italy), resulting in a fractured wine system that didn't really start great momentum until the late 20th century. One exception, however, is the famous region of Rioja. This class will take a multi-pronged approach to understanding this incredibly important region and the stunning wines it produces. First, we'll discuss the history of Rioja (and Spanish wine in general), focusing…

It's one of our favorite grapes.  It shot to stardom in the movie "Sideways".  It is haunting, complex, detailed, and difficult to make well.  It is Pinot Noir. One of the great things about Pinot Noir is that it's responsible for incredible wines made in a range of wine regions.  Of course there is Burgundy, the historic home of the grape, where 'terroir' reigns and expression of detail is everything.  Then there is Oregon, which seems to have hit an…
