THE FOUNDATIONS OF WINE SERIES: ACIDITY
There are a handful of topics that can help you understand every wine in the world. They include oak, acidity, body, terroir, elevation, and climate. Through our Foundations of Wine series, you will become an expert on these particular topics and how they integrate into the wines you purchase.
In this class, we’ll deep dive into the world of acidity (or lack of) in wine through five great wines, loads of handouts, and quality instruction.
What makes for the lip-smacking impression of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc vs. the richness and softness of a California Chardonnay?
What combination of grape variety and climate make for the most acidic wines in the world?
Why is sparkling wine considered one of the most acidic wines in the world?
How does sugar help balance out acidity?
How does acidity work in red wines?
All of these questions and more will be addressed, while we taste through five great wines to help emphasize the points. You will leave with a clear understanding of the role of acidity in wine as well as food and wine pairing.
