AGE: The Foundations of Wine series
July 17 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm$40.00
Twin Cities Wine Education presents a new series of great classes to build your wine confidence and spark vino curiosity!
THE FOUNDATIONS OF WINE SERIES: AGE
There are a handful of topics that can help you understand every wine in the world. They include oak, acidity, body, terroir, elevation, and climate. Through our Foundations of Wine series, you will become an expert on these particular topics and how they integrate into the wines you purchase.
There are eight topics in the Foundations Series: Acidity, Oak, Tannin, Age, Soil, Elevation, Climate, and Old vs. New World. Graduates of all eight classes get a special package including a copy of The Wine Bible by Karen MacNeil and gift cards to local fine wine shops.
In this class, we’ll explore the world of aged wine, and what chemical processes combine to make a wine age gracefully or quickly.
Why do some wines age well and some do not?
What winemaking techniques are used to make a wine age-worthy?
What regions of the world make wines with the most aging potential?
How do I serve an older bottle of wine?
What do I look for on an older bottle when I purchase it?
What are the signs a white or red wine has aged perfectly, or too long?
All of these questions and more will be addressed, while we taste through five great wines to help emphasize the points. You will leave with a clear understanding of the role of age in wine, helping YOU get more bang for the buck with all of your future wine purchases!
Class starts at 6 pm sharp. Hope to see you there!
