Aged Oregon Wine Gems: 1979 to 2001

September 17, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Twin Cities Wine Education presents a special night of rare wines. An occasion never to be repeated again!

Oregon wines are special for many reasons, but a key one is the infancy of the industry. The very first Pinot Noir vines were planed in the Willamette Valley only in 1966. The region didn’t even kick into high gear until the 2000’s. Before the spotlight was shining bright on the Willamette Valley, other parts of Oregon were planting and making wines with grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon but were overshadowed by the energy happening in California.

For this special class, we will pop some amazing bottles from an earlier era of Oregon wines.

Older Oregon wines are difficult to find because of the overwhelming curisoity sommeliers have about the how they are aging. All of these bottles, assembled over many years, are in top condition with high fill levels and no sign of leakage or problems. I think we are in for a treat!

Only 12 seats avaialble for the incredible evening, tasting many gems from top producers.

Wines to served and discussed:
2001 Siduri Pinot Noir, Archery Summit Vineyard,Willamette Valley
1999 Argyle Pinot Noir, Nuthouse, Willamette Valley
1998 Panther Creek Pinot Noir, Benarik Vineyard Willamette Valley
1997 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir, The Beaux Frères Vineyard, Willamette Valley
1979 Valley View Vineyards Caberenet Sauvignon, Jacksonville, Oregon
… plus some fun bonus wines to begin the evening!

Of course extensive maps and background information on the producers will be provided. This is a rare opportunity to taste a range of gems of such provenance.
