The blind Burgundy challenge is back!
Burgundy vs. California vs. Oregon … who will prevail?
Tasting wine blind is one of the best ways to sharpen your wine senses and learn your personal preferences. It’s also a fun way to have three premier wine regions compete against each-other.
This is one of our favorite formats for wine learning. We’ll start with a full education on blind tasting, with all the hints and tips that sommeliers use to judge quality and make guesses on where the wine is from. The first part of the class is all about advanced wine tasting fundamentals, from sight to aroma to taste, and combining all of those to discuss flavor.
Then we’ll dive into two flights of three wines each, the first being Chardonnay the second being Pinot Noir. Each flight will have one wine each from Burgundy, California, and Oregon. Can we tell which is which? While we enjoy the wines and make our guesses, you will learn a ton about each region being represented.
At the end of each flight we’ll tally the results, which will include questions such as:
- What wine was the most and least expensive?
- What wine was the most complex?
- What wine was the oldest or youngest?
- Which wine do you think came from which region?
- Which was your favorite?
Who will win the trophy? Will the legendary region of Burgundy take home the prize?
Wines to be presented: Six outstanding wines, three Chardonnays and three Pinot Noirs. All wines will be available for purchase via Solo Vino Wine Shop and North Loop Wine and Spirits.
