In our New Reality of California Wine class we’ll map the changes that have occurred in the last twenty years in the California wine industry. In 2001, Napa dominated the conversation, Robert Parker could make or break a winery, the state had a surplus of water, wines were made to be big and brawny, and nobody had heard of small regions like Yorkville Highlands. Now everything has changed.
This is part history class, part futurists discussion, and part insider’s info. You’ll learn about new, small, awesome producers and regions along with tasting some INCREDIBLE wines.
Wines to be presented: Six wines of place, showcasing interesting producers, regions, and grapes that are redefining California wine for many. All wines will be available for purchase via Solo Vino Wine Shop.
About the evening. Our host location, the Campus Club at the University of Minnesota, is one of our favorite venues. You can pre-order a cheese plate to go along with your wine tasting, or arrive early for a bite! Easy underground parking is available (note there is a parking fee). Those wishing to eat ahead of the event are invited to arrive anytime before 5pm. Class begins promtly at 6:00pm.
