Douro Valley Masterclass with Oscar Quevedo

May 31, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Twin Cities Wine Education is proud to welcome one of our favorite winemakers in the world to Minnesota, where he’s kicking off his brand and educating us on the magic of the Douro Valley and Port production
DOURO VALLEY AND PORT MASTERCLASS with Oscar Quevedo of Quevedo Winery
I first met Oscar about five years ago when our mutual friend Ryan Opaz brought five winemakers across the upper midwest in a van full of wine, calling it the Portugal Wine Invasion. We held a great event at Cafe Ena in South Minneapolis, and it was clear from that moment that Oscar is not only one of the friendliest wine people on the planet, but also one of the most intelligent.
Fast forward to October of 2016, when we led a group of twelve people on a nine day jaunt through Portugal. We spend nearly a full day with Oscar and his family at the winery and in the vineyards. We spent hours in the vineyard during harveset, learning about pruning techniques, harvest schedules, soil composition, all the while drinking some amazing rosé port. He even arranged a grape stomp for us (see the video of that day!) along with a traditional Portuguese barbeque.

Oscar’s history and knowledge of winemaking in the Douro is second to none. He lives and breathes the region, having worked the land his entire life. In this special night we’ll discuss the history of the valley, the range of styles being produced, and the port wine making process. Oscar, in his engaging fashion, will take on a journey you won’t soon forget.
All the while we’ll be tasting his wines, from dry and drinky affordable table wines through the rare vintage dated ports including Colheitas.
This will be the best Portuguese wine class of the year. I hope you can join us.
