February 9 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm CST
Time to dive into France in a new way!
Learning about the wines of France is best done with boots on the ground, exploring little French villages and interacting with the locals while learning about the culture. Obviously we can’t magically transport there, but let’s see how close we can get.
In this new format, we’ll take three key French wine regions and talk about specific grapes, specific wineries, and the history, culture, and most importantly the FOODS of the area. Each region will come with its own pack of information highlighted with one great traditional recipe to bring home.
We’ll start with ANJOU-SAUMUR in the beautiful Loire Valley, then head to JURA east of Burgundy toward Switzerland, then finish up with CAHORS in the southwest and learn all about the Côt grape (otherwise known as Malbec).
Wines to be presented: Six outstanding French wines, two from each area we are discussing. All wines will be available for purchase via Solo Vino Wine Shop and North Loop Wine and Spirits.
About the evening. Our host location, the Campus Club at the University of Minnesota, is one of our favorite venues. The seating is spread out and you can pick your own spot (the room holds 350 people legally, but we cap the class at 80 people). You can pre-order a cheese plate to go along with your wine tasting, or arrive early for a bite! Easy underground parking is available (note there is a parking fee). Those wishing to eat ahead of the event are invited to arrive anytime before 5pm. Class begins promtly at 6:00pm.
Please note the kitchen at the Campus Club closes when our event begins.
We hope you can join us!
