April 20 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm$45.00
Twin Cities Wine Education presents a series of great classes to build your wine confidence and spark vino curiosity!
THE FOUNDATIONS OF WINE SERIES: OAK
There are a handful of topics that can help you understand every wine in the world. They include oak, acidity, body, terroir, elevation, and climate. Through our Foundations of Wine series, you will become an expert on these particular topics and how they integrate into the wines you purchase.
In this class, we’ll deep dive into the role of oak in wine through five great wines, loads of handouts, and quality instruction.
Does “oaky” mean “buttery”?
What one region of the world uses more oak than all other wine regions?
What chemically happens when a wine is aged in an oak barrel?
Are there other woods used for wine storage?
What does ‘neutral’ oak mean and what does it taste like?
When a wine is ‘unoaked’ what can I expect?
What are the different qualities of oak from around the world, or even from different coopers?
All of these questions and more will be addressed, while we taste through five great wines to help emphasize the points. You will leave with a clear understanding of the role of oak in wine, helping YOU get more bang for the buck with all of your future wine purchases!
The class starts at 6:30 pm sharp. Hope to see you there!
