Join us for an incredible night with Shane Finley of Shane Wines. Shane is a local boy done good … hailing from West Bloomington, he left the corporate world behind when he caught the wine bug. As he explains on his website:
“I never intended to become a winemaker. I studied English at the Virginia Military Institute in the tiny hamlet of Lexington, Virginia and afterward moved to New York City to pursue a safe career in business. From my comfortable perch in midtown Manhattan, in a cubicle working for a global insurance company, my destiny ascending the rungs of corporate America seemed assured. However, a copy of Wine for Dummies interceded and became the catalyst for my winemaking career.” Read the rest of Shane’s story.
This class will focus on Shane’s story from West Bloomington to Sonoma County (via Europe), his fascination with Pinot Noir and Syrah, and how different vintages bring new challenges to his winemaking.
Through tasting three flights of wines comparing vintages, we will leave with a full understanding of vintage variances and the impact on the final wine. Additionally, Shane will guide us through a ‘grape to glass’ tour of the winemaking process. Plus we’ll enjoy the Shane Rose and learn about the Rose winemaking process.
