SOIL: The Foundations of Wine series
July 23 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm$40.00
Twin Cities Wine Education presents a new series of great classes to build your wine confidence and spark vino curiosity!
THE FOUNDATIONS OF WINE SERIES: SOIL
There are a handful of topics that can help you understand every wine in the world. They include oak, acidity, body, terroir, elevation, and climate. Through our Foundations of Wine series, you will become an expert on these particular topics and how they integrate into the wines you purchase.
There are eight topics in the Foundations Series: Acidity, Oak, Tannin, Age, Soil, Elevation, Climate, and Old vs. New World. Graduates of all eight classes get a special package including a copy of The Wine Bible by Karen MacNeil and gift cards to local fine wine shops.
In this class, we’ll explore the impact of soil and ‘terroir’ on wine.
How do soil and hydration impact the vines and ultimately the wine?
What are some major soil types in the best-known wine regions?
Why is limestone held up to such high regard in the wine world?
What makes “left bank” and “right bank” Bordeaux so different from each other?
Why is chalk soil so important for the region of Champagne?
… and so much more!
All of these questions and more will be addressed, while we taste through five great wines to help emphasize the points. You will leave with a clear understanding of the role of soil in wine quality, helping YOU get more bang for the buck with all of your future wine purchases!
Class starts at 6 pm sharp. Hope to see you there!
