The Champagne Masterclass 2013
December 28, 2013 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
THE CHAMPAGNE MASTERCLASSThe best Champagne educational event of the year!
Just in time for New Year’s Eve, when you can impress your friends with your encyclopedic knowledge of the wine world, comes the annual Twin Cities Wine Education Champagne Masterclass.
This is far and away the top class on the subject of Champagne that you can experience in the state of Minnesota. For five years I’ve been presenting this class, and every year I find more information to pack into the program. The 2013 edition is the best yet.
So why is this class such a big deal? Quite simple: can you name the three main regions of Champagne? Can you name the three types of soil in the region? Can you name the three grapes used in the production? Can you (here’s a toughie) name the three codes on every Champagne label you can use to determine something very important about the production style of that wine?
So not only will we be talking about these ‘rules of three’ but also cover a wealth of other subjects including: the definition of the sweetness levels (Brut, Extra Dry, etc.), the production method that makes this amazing wine, and the history of the region from the Romans, through the World Wars, and up to today.
New for the 2013 Champagne Masterclass will be an extensive discussion of the Grower-Producer movement which is reshaping how many think about Champagne. We will also have a drawing for free admission to the upcoming Champagne Extravaganza hosted by The Wine Company.
Of course this will be accented by tasting through a wide variety of top quality Champagne. (Note: the only wine served for this class is real Champagne from Champagne, France.) We will end the class with a philosophical discussion about what makes a great Champagne and how does it compare to other great wines of the world that cost just as much.
Class begins at 3:00 pm sharp and all attendees will be eligible for a discount on Champagne purchases made that afternoon.
Free parking behind North Loop Wine and Spirits.
