The Port Masterclass
January 11, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm$70.00
Twin Cities Wine Education presents a very special evening …
The Port Masterclass
Fresh from extensive research and tastings on the current state of the world of Port, we present the Port Masterclass!
This will be the most comprehensive discussion around on the history of Port, the role of Quintas vs. Lodges, the amazing Douro River Valley, and of course the multitude of styles available. A special emphasis will be on the conditions of the incredible 2016 harvest and what is leading many to declare it a vintage of our lifetimes.
We will taste six incredible Ports including a perfected aged Vintage Port to show just how much paitence pays off.
We’ll be learning about the whole range of production: Ruby, Tawny, Vintage Character, Crusted, Late Bottled Vintage, Colheita, and of course Vintage Port. We’ll discuss the differences between bottle aged and cask-aged port while covering the winemaking differences that will influence how you age these wines.
Of particular note will be an in-depth discussion on the type of Port to buy NOW, for the prices are starting to creep up and I predict will be sky-high in a matter of five to ten years.
And of course, just as with any Twin Cities Wine Education class, you can expect comprehensive handouts, articles, and maps on the topic. This will be a truly special class and I hope you can make it!
