Twin Cities Wine Education is proud to present a new class examining in detail “America’s Grape”: Zinfandel.
From its humble beginnings as the chosen grape of Italian immigrants in Sonoma County to the downfall of popularity and the amazing revival thanks to winemaking mistake, Zinfandel has far more history and diversity in style than many realize.
This class will be part history, part geography, and part Sherlock-like detective novel as we learn about the quest to learn the true origins of the Zinfandel grape. We will also discuss the influence of “old vines” and what this term means in the marketing of these wines.
And what would a class like this be without a fantastic wine line up for tasting? We will explore in detail the families and the history of iconic Zinfandel producers while tasting their wines. Ridge, Seghesio, and Turley will highlight the “icons” crowd, while a range of wines from under the radar and up-and-coming producers will round out the evening. This will be an exceptional line up of gems from the best and most promising producers in California.
I hope you can join us for this new, fascinating, and all-American (or is it?) class.
