Washington Wine History and Aged Gems, with guest Chad Johnson
March 4 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Twin Cities Wine Education is proud to present a special night of stories, history, and older wines.
Washington Wine History and Aged Gems, with special guest Chad Johnson of Dusted Valley Vineyards of Walla Walla
This class falls under the category of “it’s only happening once, never again,” when we pop and discuss some amazing aged wines featuring the history of Washington state and Walla Walla in particular. Joining us for the discussion will be Chad Johnson, founder and owner of Dusted Valley Vineyards. Chad will also be bringing a range of his wines from his personal library while sharing stories of the evolution of the Walla Walla wine business.
We will start with an overview of Washington state viticulture, and focus on Walla Walla in particular. We’ll learn about the key families and first wineries that established the region, and how winemaking started to take hold and grow in the 1990s.
Look forward to a range of wines from the legendary Woodward Canyon winery from the 1980s and the 1990s, plus some incredible bottles from early in Chad Johnson’s career. We will taste six wines overall while discussing the history of the Washington wine industry.
With regards to the aged wines, Chad will give us perspective on the science and chemistry of aging wine. He’ll also give you the inside scoop on visiting Walla Walla (where to eat, wineries to visit, and more).
Extremely limited seating.
