World Wine Cup 2014, Match One
July 7, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Twin Cities Wine Education LLC presents
The World Wine Cup 2014
Eight countries, four tastings, ONE winner
To celebrate the 2014 World Cup, Twin Cities Wine Education presents a series of blind wine tastings like no other. The World Wine Cup brings together eight great wine producing countries into a head to head battle of blind tasting to determine the 2014 champion.
Match one (group round): Monday July 7th, 6:30pm
USA, FRA, ITL, ARG
For the first World Wine Cup match, the group round consists of the United States, France, Italy, and Argentina in a head to head battle.
How this will work: There will be two flights, one white and one red. Each country will have a wine in each flight, and all wines will be selected based on being extremely high quality but also similar flavor profiles as its competitors. The idea will be to have as level a playing field as possible.
We’ll be tasting some INCREDIBLE wines during this event, but without knowing which country they are representing.
We will start the evening discussing blind tasting (both its positives and negatives), and covering detailed tasting techniques to use for the evening. Each participant will be given a scorecard allowing for a variety of points in certain categories. At the end of each flight, we will tally the group scores to determine the winners and losers of the flight.
After both flights are complete, the wines will be revealed and the country totals will be tallied.
The top two winning countries of this tasting go onto the semi finals (group of four) on Friday July 11th, and the two winners of that round go to the final match on Thursday July 17th.
This World Wine Cup event will be limited to 12 participants.
We hope you can join us for the World Wine Cup 2014!
