Hi everyone –

When I first heard about Lubanzi Wines, I was hooked—not by a tasting note or a score, but by a story.

On a backpacking trip across South Africa, two American students meet a wandering dog named Lubanzi who decides to tag along for six days through the wild countryside. That dog—and the journey—left such an impression that when these guys later returned to start a wine label, they named it after their unexpected four-legged guide. The origin story sticks with you: equal parts adventure, serendipity, and soul.

But the story only sets the stage. Lubanzi stands out not just where it began, but also for what it stands for. This is one of the most ethically driven, community-focused wineries I’ve encountered in years. Lubanzi is a certified B Corp, and they’re 100% fair trade. That’s not lip service. They share 50% of their net profits with the workers who actually make the wine. Vineyard crews and cellar teams who typically get little recognition or reward are part of the success story here, and that’s rare in the world of wine.

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for these folks—it’s baked into everything they do. From using lightweight bottles and eco-friendly packaging to working exclusively with growers committed to organic and regenerative practices, Lubanzi takes a holistic approach to how wine should be made. Even their supply chain has been carefully thought through to reduce carbon emissions. This isn’t virtue-signaling. It’s a sincere attempt to create something beautiful that doesn’t take more than it gives back.

The 30% tariff on South African Wines (which have not yet hit this offer)

In April 2025, the executive branch imposed a 30% tariff on South African wine imports as part of a broader initiative to address what they perceived as unfair trade practices and to promote “reciprocal” trade balances.

The tariff is added to all shipments that land after April 2025. Therefore, when the local distributor reloads on this wine and the wholesaler and retailer mark-ups hit, the final cost will be +50 %.

Let’s talk about what’s actually in the bottle.

And here’s the best part—the wines absolutely deliver. We’re thrilled to offer you four of their top selections, each a stellar expression of coastal South African terroir, all crafted with honesty and care:

  • 2024 Lubanzi Chenin Blanc – South Africa’s signature white grape, and this one sings. Lively citrus, a bit of honeycomb, a kiss of salinity. It’s zippy, mouthwatering, and incredibly food-friendly. Drink this with fish tacos, roast chicken, or spicy Thai takeout.
  • 2023 Lubanzi Sauvignon Blanc – Lean, bright, and mineral-driven. Think lime zest, green apple, and crushed stone. It’s like Sancerre with a sun-kissed twist. A patio-pourer with brains.
  • 2024 Lubanzi Cinsault – Light, chillable, and brimming with red berry charm. This is your “why don’t we open another bottle?” wine. Tart cherry, cranberry, a hint of earth, and barely a whisper of tannin. Serve it with a slight chill and thank me later.
  • 2022 Lubanzi GSM Blend – A juicy, peppery blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre that over-delivers for the price. Dark fruit, a little smoke, and silky tannins. This one punches way above its weight.

This is a spring and summer stock up brand. These are the perfect wines to pop on a whim all summer long, and the reds are particularly good with a very slight chill. We have discounts on 4-packs and 12-packs as well.

All pricing is pre-tariff and discounted from there. My guess is this is the lowest price we’ll ever see again for these fantastic wines.

Thanks, everyone!
